: Hello some may remember me posting here a while back.
: Here is the story. A while back my year old ig fell, WE THINK.
: We found he on her back on two different occasions in a two day
: period. We took her to the vet and they said that she had a
: broken left rear leg. It was to close to the hip to splint or
: anything else. She also had dense bones from lack of UV light.
: (we were sold the wrong bulb) Well we gave her a suppliment got both uv
: bulbs we needed. and
: were told to isolate her in a small glass tank. NO CLIMBING.
: We did that. After a while she got no better. She started
: draging her self around the tank. She refuses to move her back
: legs and tail. If I pick her up she will filp her legs and
: tail like crazy but once I put her down she won't move them.
: She also won't poop. We tried everything and the only
: time she does is sometimes when I pick her up and she wiggles
: her legs and tail. She at times will poop then. I hold her and
: let her poop on the floor and I put her down when she is done.
: I have found he on her back several times. She drags her back
: end around and has a problem pooping. I don't know where else
: to turn nor do i Know what to do. I can't stand to see her
: this way and I am considering putting her to sleep. I have grown
: very fond of her because of the care she requires but I can't think
: of anything else to do. She has no life stuck in the tank. She rarely moves and I think she is in pain. I have spent alot of money that I CAN
: NOT afford. Approx $500 in vet bills. What fustrates me is
: when i pick her up she moves her legs, why can't she on her
: own. Also if you touch her back near her tail and legs. She
: will rise up on her legs and move them. but still she will
: refuse to move them.
: Maybe someone can take her. I live in NJ and would travel by car to give her to someone.
: Please help. I don't know what else to do.
Tracy!,
Sent you a response to another posting you sent. I am in Ocean Cty. Have an ig with the same thing. Got to give her an enema to survive. Sounds like her signals are not getting to the legs. Could be a partial break with some nerve damage.
Dr.Warren Briggs of the OCVH in Lakewood knows of these injuries. He has had plenty of practice on mine. She is doing so much better!
