: If iguana iguana as you call them are so easy to care for, we wouldn't have so many problems with them. Of the many who seek out rescue groups to get rid of their iguanas (GREEN IGUANAS)there are at least 5 times as many who either kill or release (which ends in the same result ....death) their iguanas into the wild. Green Iguana are NOT an easy species to raise.......you want something that is easy.....get a dog or cat!!!!!!
: As a iguana owner, you will have to have a nice savings of $$$ put aside for emergencies, mostly Vet visits and medical treatment. Figure that at any given time you could have a $100.00 to $200.00 dollar Vet visit for your iguana. There are many things that play a part of raising a healthy iguana......90% of owners don't know 50% of what those needs are.....leaving the iguana to end up sick and needing medical attention. Easy......not hardly! I'd be more then happy to let you tend to my Harry for a week.....I'll throw in the welding gloves too!!!! p.s. you'll need them!!! He's going on about 5 months of breeding season or he's just pure "Satan's Spawn", either way he's all but easy to care for.
: Hey Ed, ask around about how a green iguana bite feels like and how much damage they can do to you if they get ahold of you. I think you'll get the picture.
: Just because I want to put Harry in a straight jacket, it doesn't mean I'd ever get rid of him....but I"m one of the few.....most would give up and want to rid themselves of such a wild beast. Yes, many rescue groups have gotten calls from people who don't want their iguanas any more because it's gotten "mean". Please consider all the angles of owning a green iguana before jumping in.....because you should be fully committed to the green iguana for life, if you choose to get one.....NOT til you get tired of it or til he's not what you thought he'd be.

Okay.... Here I go Too..... All Pets...
EVEN CATS AND DOGS require a big commitment...
Anyone that does not want a big commitment should
NOT have any kind of pet!
Cats, Dogs, Igs or Goldfish..... these are all
living beings... the quality or their lives and
in truth their very lives are in our hands... Pet
ownership is not something to be taking lightly.
Cats and dogs are easy? maybe some of us need
to visit the local pound and see how easy it is to
own a cat or dog. It is no wonder that Igs are
so misstreated... Look at how Society treats
"Man's best friend"
No one that wants something easy should get a
pet...... Want something... Get a nice book
that has pretty pictures... I guess I'll
be getting some nice emails from Librarians now.. lol
take care all
