Hi muzik,

You are going to have to pay a lot of attention to your animal. You will have to hold it, talk to it, hand feed it, and so forth. In short, you will have to make yourself an intregal part of it's world, and a sort of gently dominant part: If you want to hold it, it WILL be held!

I will not sugar coat the pill. Iguanas are very strong and they won't respond to the 'reward / punishment' methods of training. But they will respond to repitition. Get it on a set schedual. Also, you will probably be scratched and even bitten. Neither of these injuries will amount to much. Just clean them them and continue.

I have learned that taming an Ig takes dedication. Ours was an abused, raving maniac when he came to us. But the multitude of scratches that adorned my wrists for some time healed nicely, and the couple of bites were no big deal (I've been hit by some REAL biters!).

If you have feelings for this guy, and you seem to, you'll do ok.

luck,

filthy

: ive had an ig for about six years. i received her as a present on my 15th b-day and thought an ig was "cool". little did i realize all the attention she needs! she became a pet my mom had to lecture me on and help me take care of. ive always been a lil nervous of the tail and the teeth, and have been bitten twice. i now live on my own and am keeping the ig, and this is where i need help.
: ive read a lot on this forum and decided to start over in a sense, reading particularly the posts for new ig owners, but here i go anyways: she is used to my smell, and me, but she is not very friendly, im afraid thats my fault as i didnt handle her often enough and allowed myself to get scared of her. she is now a rather large ig and very fiesty. what steps should i take to "tame" her, as well as any suggestions for me!
