: Didn't know if you would ck your post again so I came back to the top with it :o) Saw that someone recommended checking the Chinese market in your area. I'm assuming this market carries Asian foods. A while back Marie E. posted recommending some of these foods...I asked her about it and saved the reply. I don't believe she'd mind me sharing in the interest of hungry iggies everywhere!

: "Komatsuna in particular has very high calcium, low phosphorus, and nearly non existant oxalate acid level. Also, I have yet to meet an iguana that does not like to eat it! The leaves look very much like spinach but the way to tell is from the roots... they are white whereas spinach is red.

: Moroheya (moloheiya) is actually an egyptian plant, but I see it all over Asia and not in the US for some reason. The leaves are very yummy in soups, and this is the other leaf almost all iguanas like."

: I've also got some websites that might help you out when choosing veggies in the Chinese market. They are:

: http://www.sfc.ucdavis.edu/cgi-win/spec_crop.exe - speciality type crops in Ca. Some are profiled with pictures.

: http://www.sci-ctr.edu.sg/ssc/publication/veg/contents.html - This features vegetables available in the local Singapore market and gives info & photographs of each vegetable.

: http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/proceedings1990/v1-387.html - This one gives other names for the veggies.

: Re Veggie Burgers - I asked that one myself not too too long ago because someone on the Iguana Mailing List uses them as treats. No one here had any objection per se to them and I don't recall that any great hue and cry went up on the IML over it. (Usually if something is an absolute no-no there'll be someone to say so quickly.) If you decide to try one, you probably should read the labeling very carefully to be sure of what you are getting :o)
