: Hi !

: I'm thinking about getting an iguana. But I want to be sure on what's ok for them and what's not before... I'm far from being new with lizards (Already have WD, BD, sailfin, collared and uro) but it's gonna be my first try with Ig's... I was thinking about let him free in a romm, with a spot just for him with is basking, UV fluorescent, branchs, pool and foods. But I don't plan to keep all the room at more then 80 F... Would he be ok in a room around 70-75 F with ambient humidity level and a basking spot between 95-100 F ?

: Is he gonna be able to learn where is basking spot is and return to, it when he strat to get cold ?

: I've saw many care sheets on them, some telling that they could be fine, some telling that they couldn't...

: What to you think ?

: Thank you :o)

Hi,

G.G. has the run of the entire house, wandering among snake cages, bluffing out the cat (a tolerent and long-suffering animal), and so forth. But he preferes his corner of the living room where his tree with hot spot is set up. This looks like the easy way out, but it's not. He had to be potty trained (nobody wants a big pile of lizard crap in the living room) and NO food scraps can be left out. Also, a dirty dish can't be left in the sink or he will be over there lapping it in a heartbeat.

But, as I said, he mostly stays in his corner. I think that the reason is that he is on a carved-in-stone schedual: fed at such a time, gets a bath at such a time, and so forth.

In short, it can be done with care and the willingness to spend the time. Igs ain't stupid - they learn quickly. They also pick up bad habits just as quickly.

Bearing all that in mind, let him roam. But Ig-proof anything you don't want him in.
