: Are UVB's supposed to be on 24/7?
No, for artificial UVB, if NO outside exposure to natural unfiltered light has been given, they need at least 12-14 hours of artificial UVB. They do, need darkness at night with a non-light emitting heat source (ie. ceramic heater is good) lights on 24/7 stress the animal.
If you are able to give outdoor unfiltered (not through glass or plastic, screen is ok) then they need AT LEAST 1/2 hour MINIMUM, more is better.
