Igs sometimes get very picky about what they will and will not eat. I would suggest if you haven't already you revisit Melissa Kaplan's site, I believe she has a article dealing with picky eaters.

While it is ok to feed by hand and it can be a good taming tool. I do it on occasion for Mel when she is feeling close. I would be careful and not make it a regular thing. There have been cases where igs have refused to eat unless hand feed (and people think these animals our stupid, what better sign of intelligence than training a human).

How is Rex doing? Getting big yet? And how does the taming go?
