I believe that igs, etc. are legal on Long Island. As I recall, one of the people on the board for NYC who helped get them banned there offered to take in all the now criminal iguanas. (Sorry, I just got an amusing mental image of iggies in black masks *grin*) And how could he take them in legally? Because he lives on Long Island. Bizarre, huh? Don't you just love it when people who don't live where you do decided what is best for you?? Oh yeah....the federal government is good about that, too.

Anyway, I don't know if this herp society had anything to do with the ban or not. If so, perhaps it didn't work out the way they thought it would because there was no grandfather clause.

Mike, if you're reading this, I think that a lot of people understand and can support banning the sale of these animals on a large market or whatever. But what happens to the people who already have one and ARE being responsible and ARE providing the right care for it. That's what's wrong with the NYC law.
