Christy...here is a website written by Tricia Powers to help determine if indeed your iguana is dehydrated (link below). Look for vertical lines along the ribcage of your ig, thick stringy mucous in mouth, constipation. Chronic dehydration is a killer right!! ways to promote good hydration...as Lola's Mom & cirsisue pointed out..good high humidity another way(absorb moisture thru their skin too!), when misting your ig give him a few sprays of water right in the kisser, spray their food heavily with water, add things like valencia oranges, chicory, watermelon to their salad. When giving reconstituted prunes I throw in the juice and mix it up in their salad, baths daily. Add the pedialyte to the bath water or just spray their salad with it. Gatorade a little higher in sugar but can be used too. As long as you realize that
chronic dehydration is a big factor in chronic diseases for igs like kidney disease...you'll do whatever it takes to make sure he's well hydrated....it will take a while before you notice any significant differences....like brighter color, smoother skin,no folds like that...Good luck Don't forget to check out this site ...very interesting reading!
