Laura,
Ya,I live in Canada.I live in a little town called Woodstock. It's in New Brunswick.I wish I lived in one of the warmer provinces.
Flordia would be a dream come true.
Yes, the yeast was intended for making beer. They had the whole kits for this stuff in the local supermarket.I noticed it said brewers yeast so bought some.
Luckly I only bought ten packages.
Iggie started showing a distinct liking for the dandilion greens three month ago.I usually mix the dandilion greens with collard greens, parsley, sometimes turnip or beet greens, his squash, radish for color or peppers, grated carrots and his fruit.
Normally he will eat the dandilion greens first.
He has filled out really good. You cannot see a rib,an impression of a bone...he is fat.
He has a lovely green color with no dark spots at all.My baby boy is alright.
I have the two pound margarine container filled for him at all times.I fill it about eleven am and again by late afternoon. He finishes almost everything in his dish.
Strange though,he still charges to the dish each time I fill it.Almost like he is real hungry.I use different greens, veggies, fruit weekly so he doesn't get tired of the same old thing.
I also bought him an overhead heater (controlled temp)so when the temps drop he will still be comfortable.
Through July and Aug.I didn't give him much free roam.I was afraid with the kids running in and out that he would get out again.
Now that school has started he is out from 8am to 4pm.
If I can get some real good dandilion greens, how do you prepair them? That is if they cannot be bought from the local stores.
I know with freezing they would loose most of their food value. But just for a treat. So he would not totally loose them for the winter.
I just don't want any setbacks. He has came so far.He is truely a miracle Iggie.
Guys, thanks for listening to me and thanks so much for your help.
Oh,the vet put him on vit's named"Prime".I thaught she was a little crazy when she told me they were also for birds. But you know they are GREAT.
With you guys, the vet,MK and her Iggie Salad,he has become a healthy and happy boy.
Bless you all.
Alta.
