Alfalfa question

I skanned Kaplin's page the other day and read a little about igs needing alfalfa. I haven't given Lizzy any, but bought some dry alfalfa and some of the hard bricks, but how much and often and how do I give it to her? I thought about putting it in a blender and grinding it to a powder, or grating the brick. I guess I should have read instead of scanned, but I thought you all might give me some quick advice.
