I remember reading something about this in Hatfield's book. He says for a large iguana you should cover its head, like tie something loosely around it. When they can't see, they don't get as nervous. Smaller juvs could be put in a pillowcase tied closed, like you would a snake. He was specifically recommending this for shorter trips, though, like to the vet. Don't know how well it would work for an extended road trip.
