In Reply to: PLEASE! Tell me what kind of lighting you use, and where can I get it. msg. posted by Katie on September 11, 1999 at 08:29:29:

Katie....ummm here goes
You'll need two thermometers and one humidity gauge or get a digitalized one that does both at like a Radio shack....

basking lights- regular incandescent household bulbs (basking spot about 95 degrees)

UVB flourescent tube(40 watt)--Zoo-Meds Reptisun & IguanaLight 5% , ESU 7% reflectorized, Durotests Vita-lite are the most commonly available tubes. Always a sale online somewhere...Bean Farm, Herpsupplies, big apple, pet warehouse...or get the Vitalight at this site always the same price...$14.99 or the Vitalight Power-twist 17.99 at http://www.avitec.com/Vita.html
Or call lighting supply stores like Lamp Plus etc to see if they have any in stock or can order for you...usually always cheaper than Pet store prices (they got us by the short hairs!!)
Metal Hallide & Mercury Vapor lamps are alternatives .....but precautions need to be used with these due to the UVB/C output...need to read up on these ALOT! before using them.

Nighttime heating: infared red/blue lamps, che's (ceramic heat emitters -Pearlco is the most popular) , radiated heat emitters, blacklights (not "posterlights")

Temp ranges daytime 85-95 deg.(95 basking) Nightime ranges 67-78 deg. Humidity 60-100% . Artificial uvb lighting on 12 hours daily within 12 inches (9 inches optimum) Photoperiods...12-12 hours hours daylight/12 hours night.

Hopefully this helps????? lol
Gina
