Cheryl....iguanas are high maintenance pets, they require a commitment of time, money, they have specific care dietary & husbandry requirements. If you are not planning on keeping him Zoo-Med Iguana Food is one of the best commercial foods to give him in the interim. Fresh greens and veggies a little fruit is best....same greens you feed yer boxies.I wouldn't handle him for awhile tho cuz he's already stressed from the changes...(change is one of those things they don't handle well at all) give him some time to adjust...when you do handle him....get down low...eyelevel or lower as looming over him you become more like a predator and threaten him, move slow .Learn his body language.Clipping nails just means their claws are no longer razor sharp but can still inflict serious scratches, so make sure you're using long sleeves (sweat-shirts),tube socks cut off on one end as wrist forearm gaurds. Gloves may be needed in case he decides to bite. If you are planning to keep him visit Melissa Kaplan's site as someone posted for detailed diet, husbandry requirements for them, and pick up a copy of the Hatfields book.
Good luck with him and on making a decision to keep him.
