For a juvie...it may be a little big and that can stress em......but I would NOT buy a tank...Since your the Bob Villa type...is there anyway you could put a plywood base half way up for flooring (basically like dividing the enclosure in half)...use the top half for his enclosure and when he becomes a huge monstrous dragon remove the temporary flooring and you got a nice enclosure for the golden years!?!?!?!
On salads:
I believe iguanas diets should be individualized: based on health status and age of the iguana:
My igs are ADULTS not babies...Babies need alot more plant protein for growth until about 2 years of age then start tapering protein off ..Good plant protein includes legumes (fresh beans and peas, tofu, timothy hay, ENSURE or SUSTACAL liquid supplement (soy) if he needs vitamins, minerals and extra calories...for example...anyway here's my iguanas diet:
My igs get 1 item from each of these 3 categories
@ 60% dark leafy greens: dandelion greens (flowers, roots, leaves if harvested from yards), young hibiscus leaves, collards, mustard greens, turnip greens
@ 20% nutritious veggies: cactus (nopales), spaghetti or butternut squash
@ 20% nutritious fruits: papaya, rasberries, valencia oranges, prickly pear, figs, blackberries
Sometimes additions like: squash flowers, nasturnium, geranium leaves & flowers, rose petals, hibiscus flowers, banana, pumpernickel or rye bread,Total cereal, pumpkin .. but because they are loaded with phosphorus or other junk they get these "treats" once in a while as part of a varied diet.
Their salad is then heavily sprayed or doused with water and its SUPPATIME!
