I did get the results of his necropsy back today and he actually died of heart failure, the pneumonia was secondary to that. The pericardium was full of clear fluid..so no endocarditis or anything bacterial suspected. Doc says there was probably nothing we could have done. I may have really misjudged his age??? He did say that the other organs looked really good and that I shouldn't change a thing that I'm doing. I can take some comfort in that. Thanks again everyone.
