Suzi....yes Ive heard of them and Im wondering too whether or not they are good for iguanas.PowerGlo, like Chroma50 are used for aquariums. Melissa Kaplan's site has (altho outdated) comparisons of Chroma50 to other popular reptile flourescents, don't remember seeing PowerGlo 40W tho. Repti-Sun has 2 uvb lights out. Repti-sun 2% & 5%.
Both are used for reptiles.Important to know which Repti-Sun comparison you used. You might want to try posting to these newsgroups if the packaging does not list uvb output so you can get data on uvb. If Im not mistaken PowerGlo 40w flourescents also emit heat unlike Repti-sun. It MUST be replaced every 6 months. If your light is found to be suitable...I'd mark the date on one end...so you remember when to replace it. Im not basing this on any first hand knowledge/experience with PowerGlo cuz I don't know about em....but post at these newsgroups Im sure someone has used these lights and should be able to help with the uvb data on it.
Sorry if this is a *little* incoherent...just got off work...goodnight Suzi and let us know what the results of your search are....always looking for alternatives to the *standard* expensive flourescents we have become slaves to!
