Anyway...re: damage to eyes...your ig has to be staring at them to get damage...I don't know what your set up is and whether this is a possibility if so I don't think you'd want to use these lamps..but both of my enclosures have overhead lighting, and the lamp would be situated about 2-4feet from their backs. The neat thing about em...I can set em on a timer for an hour or two per day...vs 12 hours with the flourescents. Now I can get rid of those ugly 4ft hoods in their enclosures! Will keep ya posted
