Penny has it been 4 weeks already since her spay? Gee whiz time flies....Yep Hatfield basically says consult your igs vet for calcium/vitamin supplementation.....Don't know if you saw the post I put on your last message a few days ago... altho Hatfield is rather conservative...Calcium supplementation is important EVERYDAY while gravid and 30-45 days after egg-laying. I'd continue to give the calcium you have EVERYDAY those sprays are not that great but I'd use it until gone and switch over to a phosphorus free (Tums) or calcium citrate. Sprinkle the Reptivite over her salad as you would salt your food.Vitamins should only be supplemented 2-3 xs per week.Repti-vite is ok but not worth the money...High Vitamin A (fat soluble so stored until needed & may reach toxic levels) , don't need the D3 in it and are you sure about the sodium level?...cuz that's alot of sodium!! Lots of controversy about supplementation of vitamins/calcium not usually needed unless your ig is gravid, sick, or a baby or juvenile. Calcium Carbonate is 40% elemental calcium ....the absorbable amount Regarding the calcium rich foods she eats .....less than half of the calcium in foods is absorbed calcium ..which she needs to compensate for the loss from egg-laying. Too much Calcium is not good...especially if she's caged and gets little excercise.Make sure she's well hydrated which helps with calcium absorption and rid excess water soluble vitamins like C that inhibit calcium. IMHO the amount of calcium you are giving her is not bad...its tuff to screw it up/overdose her..spray her food everyday with the calcium stuff. Repti-vite 2-3xs per week....that's it. Adult igs mainly get their nutrients from foods they eat but your also dealing with post-gravid female whose getting already less than half of the calcium from her foods... if you go over the 30-45 days it won't hurt her at all....When its time to buy calcium /vitamins again repost and we'll throw some alternatives that are way more healthy for her. Make any sense? ...I gotta go get some sleep!!
