Like in a convection oven or whatever that's called? Apparently they are a decent source of calcium but it's the preservatives that are in some of them that make them problematic. I would think that if you dried them yourself using nothing but the fig then it should be safe...but I have no idea how one of those machines work.
The USDA database gives the following on dried figs (figures based on ONE fig):
Minerals
Calcium, Ca mg 27.360
Iron, Fe mg 0.424
Magnesium, Mg mg 11.210
Phosphorus, P mg 12.920
Potassium, K mg 135.280
Sodium, Na mg 2.090

I don't know if the additives that are preservatives make any contribution to these readings. How's that for a disclaimer? *grin*
