We have one enclosure and are building another. I would recommend
thick plexiglass, close to 3/8". Any thinner and it tends to break and
crack. Also, keep in mind that your lizards will scratch the heck out
of it and it does tend to scatch easily. You can also buy a clear thick
plastic sheet that you can put on the outside which will insulate the glass
and keep heat in. I would tend to recommend that you try and find a pre-made
double pane glass window which you can open and shut, plus, you can get safety
locks for it for security.
The front door on our current enclosure is reinforced plexiglass and
it is 4ft ht x 2ft w. Plus there is a back window which allows the lizards
to see out side and it is framed glass 2ft x 2ft.
For your info, the new enclosure will be a converted Home Depot Amoire, made out of
melanine. We will double wall and insulate it with sunken heat and light fixtures
with double doors in front with insulated glass windows set into the doors: 4ft h x
18 inch width x 2 doors. Total cost for everything including the amoire and all
fixtures = Approx. $ 250.00 to $ 300.00.
