Age is hard to tell and when you are adding to the problem a poor diet, then it's almost impossible to guess.
Now as far as his teeth go.....don't under estimate those (what appear to be small) teeth, they are very fine cutting tools. There are a few people here at the forum who can tell you about them. And trust me when I say you don't want to get bit by a full grown adult iguana that is mad.
On the average adult males are between 5 and 6 feet long. With that size comes the recomment of a very large cage. 1 1/2 times the size of your iguana. So if he's 6 feet you'd need a 9 foot cage. Many owners choose free roaming for their iguanas, letting them have plenty of space. One problem with this is, if your male goes into season, he would NOT be enjoyable having free roaming. I don't trust Harry for 10 seconds when I have him out during season, give him that......and I'd have him latched onto my leg!!! He's like a totally different iguana right now. Orange as Orange can be.....and his size has doubled, this is only because he draws in air to puff up his body to make him look much larger. Harry also was small for his age, being fed cheese and frozen foods by previous owners.
Hang in there.....and pray his season is a short one.
