: I posted about two months ago when my little iguana bit me on the knuckle of my index finger. I posted about the way it broke the skin and the weird way it swelled up like a marble on top of my knuckle vs the whole finger swelling.
: That was close to 6-8 weeks ago..
: I visited the doctor yesterday.... to get a cortisone injection in the finger to try to get the knuckle to reabsorb the 'cyst' or scar tissue that has formed. (Doc isn't sure exactly what it is.. his best guess was a cyst or possibly the scar tissue) I cannot bend the finger all the way, full day of typing hurts, and god forbid I tap that finger into something. I have 1 1/2 weeks for it to heal completely before being sent to a hand surgeon.
: Have ANY of you had anything like this happen from an iguana bite?! He' just a little guy, barely a foot long..
: Just curious.
Hi Iguana folks,
I have been bitten by a LOT of NV reptiles, plus a couple of hots.
Here's a treatment that never fails unless you're allergic to the saliva: Take a wad of cotten and some tincture of methalolade ( if I've got that spelled right) and scrub the bite. DON'T dab at it or paint it on, but SCRUB it. It hurts like hell, but there will be no infection. Also check the wound for lost teeth. Usually the cotten will pick them up. It is possible that a lost tooth is the cause of all the problems with this bite.
A little tip from an old snake man.
Keep 'em bobbing,
