: having a circle of people and telling a story to the person to my right.....who tells it to the person to their right......and when it comes back around......geeeeez it's a whole new story!!!!!

: I......HD.......said ALL breeding......whether it's CB, imported, private, shipped from Mars.....I don't really care.....bottom line....none! By the way,....I don't believe Boas' were ever priced at 4.99 each...unlike iguanas. Your theory can't really be used since pricing isn't even close.

Boas?I did mention pythons.I used to see burmese pythons for 20 bucks at wholesalers and private dealers.WC of course. While its true I have never seen a burmese for $4.99,the price wasnt really the issue.

: Next.....you mentioned dogs cats..etc.. well, talk about a loaded set of animals......herded to death because they're not wanted. JFYI, I have 3 rescued dogs, and 2 rescued cats.

Was a comparison. Its wonderful that you rescued dogs and cats.My house has been a halfway station for wayward animals for a long time.I am currently tending to a water dragon with a busted snout,a very strange furry thing that I believe is a vole but im not sure and as usual a red eared slider. But how many animals you or I have or are in the processing of saving isnt the point.

But my point being.....I am focusing on iguanas NOT these other animals.....although there is plenty to do with those animals too. I also never said anything about ALL unwanted iguanas finding homes first before starting up CB breeding again.

I didnt say you did.I am not adressing you personally.Step down off the high horse.

: What I hear and read is, if I want to be selfish I have that right.

Not at all. What I seem to be getting though is "This is what *I* think and if you dont agree with me then you are stupid".

Since, some people feel that they have every right to have a new born iguana, while thousands are dying.....

Heres where the dog and cat and every other animal comes up.Your focusing on iguanas.Ok thats fine.So your saying..becasue YOU think so..no one on earth is allowed to have a baby iguana until YOU say its ok.Sorry, dont agree.I dont play god.And why I brought up dogs, cats, fish, turtles, birds and humans, was to illustrate that somewhere in the world, these animals and people are being mistreated by someone. So no one should be allowed to have a baby anything until that magical day comes when all is perfect and right in the world.I just dont see that as a realistic reason to call a halt to captive breeding especially while improtation continues.Importation is far more horrible then what an iguana faces in a pet shop.If there are enough baby iguanas here, perhaps people wont be so quick to bring them in by the thousands.

Snakes used to be sold by the foot.Got a 2 foor python?5 bucks.Oh hes 3 feet?7 bucks. From what I understand there are places in SA that sell iguanas by the pound.Be it a single animal or a group in a sack.I would like to see that put a stop to,yes indeed I would.

this would be a sign that humans are superior above all other species on earth???????????

Not touching that one.

Wow......hate to see some dumb thoughts Man kind, for the most part is suppose to be intelligent, why not show it, ....I'll tell you why, it comes down to 2 things....greed and personel gain, with nothing getting in the way of either. Example to me how the rainforest is disappearing. Is it from natural causes......NO.....humans.....who pays the price.....we don't......animals do. For the most part very few people care about it,oh they may say they do , but when it comes down to it, they don't want to give up anything to help the cause.

What are any of us willing to give up to help the iguana cause????? Some say it's NOT their problem and they're not willing to give anything....others have. Education alone isn't going to solve this problem, stopping any kind of breeding isn't going to solve it alone, rescueing all the iguanas isn't going to solve it either, but combining all of the above, I believe would!!!! But if we leave one of them out, we add many more years to solving the problem. I truly believe if everyone just said NO for two years we'd have a grip on the problem. Promote adoption and rescue, don't buy iglets, educated the public, force petstores to stop carrying imported iglets.

How do you suggest we stop pet shops from carrying iguanas?

I would like to see an end to importation of iguanas.I would also like to see an end to the importation of all those little, unassuming lizards that you see in pet shops all the time but never get any press.Mountain dragons, lacertas, red headed agamas, butterfly agamas, various swifts, collared lizards, etc.Dying by the thousands.Funny thing is,an iguana has a CHANCE in captivity while most of these guys simply do not.But we are focusing on iguanas so ok.

: Now......since my blood pressure is back up again
: Can I ask everyone to please just drop this issue.....No one is going to change my mind and I'm sure I'm not going to change anyone elses.......Do what you want......breed to your hearts delight!!!!!
: My beliefs are just that.......MINE !
: HD

Thats great. If you do not wish to participate in the discussion then by all means do not.I wasnt trying to change your mind.I wasnt adressing you personally.Quite a few other people seem to be enjoying the discussion though. And so far you are the only one to call my thoughts "dumb".Please feel free to keep your beliefs.I dont want to change them.I do enjoy sharing ideas though,in a courteous manner.
