Hi, Annette,

I'd have to say that I have mixed views on the subject, because I feel that iguanas need more attention that just daily feeding - I think, myself, that they should be groomed (bathed, nails clipped, sheds checked, etc) as well as spoken to, hand-fed, and loved. On the other hand, there are already masses of homeless iguanas, or iguanas needing new homes. I suggest that, as long as she is getting the basic proper care, you should keep her. Altho I also strongly recommend that you *make* some time for her everyday...even if it's just 10 of 15 minutes....and it doesn't have to be all at once. Maybe give her a warm bath one day, clip her nails the next, sit with her and read out loud when you're reading the morning paper (Hey, why not? Two birds with one stone and all that...), check her for unshed toe and spike sheds one day, just pet her and love her the next. I thikn you'll both be happier. Another advantage to getting closer to your iguana is you'll know her personality and how she usually acts, and then, if something changes drastically, say, if she becomes lethargic or her color gets dramatically duller, you'll know that something is amiss and can do something about it. There are lots of good reasons to get to know your iguana..and it doesn't take too much effort. Good luck to both of you!
Best,
Jamie/JBug

: Iguana People - I need your opinions. I received an iguana as a gift last May. She is fine, and in a 70 gal. tank with all the fixins. I work and go to school; have three dogs and a keet, so don't have alot of time to spend with Gus (iguana). Each morning I give her a swim in the tub. I feed her two to three times a day, however, that is all the time I have for her. Here's your question: Do you think that is OK, or should I give her to someone who will spend more time with her? Thanks for your input.
