You are probably right about the dehydration. She does have red eyes. She will not eat today. The vet will see her tomorrow night.
She does not mouth breath ALL the time but during the day she does alot. She also does not move too much at all. But she loves to be held. I will try to get some fluids in her tonight to see if that helps. I was thinking about an undercage heater under a pan of water to raise the humidity a little.
: Ziggy's Mom bless yer little green heart....you know when rescuing igs...usually a little rehab goes hand in hand! Cuddles sounds like she has MBD
: hopefully no fractures yet. She needs proper photoperiods 12 hrs. day/12 hours night. There's alot of controversy about the use of heat rocks....most people don't recommend them for iguanas. Perhaps a human heating pad ($13.00 at Walgreens)would be better for your ig...I use them to cover basking branches or on floor. I wouldn't let her climb for now. Lots of calcium rich greens & veggies and add a phosphorus free calcium supplement everyday and lots of sunshine...in the meantime until your vet sees her and advises you. It will take a while to see improvement so keep your expectations low for a few months. Is she mouth breathing all the time? does she ever close her mouth? Any nasal discharge, or bubbly looking saliva in her mouth? Im wondering if she can be really dehydrated too!Red cracked eyes? I wouldn't worry too much about them since she's sick/stressed may want to ask the vet about it tho. Yes!! you have good company...lots of worriers here!! Igs have been known to hold their breath under water for up to 30 minutes so don't let her frighten you....the warm baths are a good idea. Make sure her basking temps are up there...I would even go as high as 105 degrees on the hot end daytime if her cage is well ventilated and has good ambient temp contrasts she needs to stay warm cuz she's not well. Keep us posted Ziggy & Cuddle's Mom
