I know - I didn't really agree with all of the Water Dragon’s either - (the misting thing mainly)
But overall, I thought it was a little better than none, and a start to “warning” the potential buyer at a petstore of the eventual size these lizards get. I apologize for any misleadings – and I have to admit I was not aware of the dangers of that substrate to Iggys – I don’t, but I know others that do, use it successfully for dragons. I didn’t take any of your “rant” to be offensive (I value whatever you have to say Bon). And I hope I didn’t offend anyone by posting that link – just trying to get some “useful” (any) info to the petstore…
Sorry,
Michelle
PS – just outta’ curiosity, what’s IMHO?
: ummmm ... i gotta strongly disagree with some of the things re: green iguanas on that particular care sheet!
: that site sez they get to be 4-5' ... 5-6+ is more like it ... (iZ is 5'6") ...
: the recommended enclosure size of 6' high is not gonna keep a 5-6' ig happy at all ... igs are s'posed to live high up in trees + that should be kept in mind ...
: it sez that igs "will tame with regular handling" ... IMHO ~ NO! igs are wild animals, they will never "tame" the way domesticated animals (cats, dogs, etc) do ... they CAN learn to trust + even love their humans, but i would not go so far as to say they can "Be Tamed" ...
: that site's recommendation of using bark as a substrate is downright DANGEROUS ... and wrong ...
: misting an enclosure "every other day" will in NO way provide anywhere NEAR enough humidity for an ig ...
: 'scuse the rant ...
: Bon.
