I handle my Q every day. I didn't always and that
turned out to be a mistake.
My Q (nearly six years old) has kidney damage and
must be given meds and liquids as well as a half
hour bath daily. I now pick him up and carry/hold
him every day out of necessity.
Before his illness, I allowed Q to call the shots.
I petted him in his enclosure each day, but I
seldom actually held or carried him because he
didn't seem to like it. When he became
ill, this lack of handling made his treatments
much more difficult and stressful for us both.
At one time I thought Q would never be easy to
handle, but I was wrong. Now he's accustomed
to being handled and is usually pretty cooperative.
