I use ceramic heaters for our iguanas. I have a cage that is 7'x 4+'x 2 1/2 feet and we use the ceramic heaters. I have installed them right above a basking spot for Lola but using wire and hanging it from the top of the cage. NOTE: if you use this idea make sure your iguana can't reach, climb to, or touch the ceramic heater.
I have covered the top part of the cage with plexiglass to hold the heat in but we also leave the room at 85 degrees during the day, in the winter time. 70 to 74 degrees at night. In my opinion I would stay away from lights for night heat.....#1. they can effect the iguanas sleeping mode #2. they don't last that long. #3. a good risk of breakage.
Although ceramic heaters are on the pricie side, they last a very long time and put out "0" light.
If you have any more questions about ceramic heaters please let me know.
