Howdy all,
Well Sue2 and I went down to the show to drop off a cage to a friend of ours, who runs the Triangle Iguana Rescue group. While we were down there, we wanted to check the show out to see if things have changed chance the last time we were down 3 years ago.........Nope!!! It was confirmed why we decided never to come back down to this show again.......Iglets for 2.99 !!!!! Some people were buying multi-iglets, just in case some didn't make it!! I believe there was 4 to 5 vendors at least, selling iglets and of course 90% of them were piled in a small 10 gallon tank or cage. I saw one booth that had hatchlings that couldn't have been more than 1 week old. You can't tell me that these could survive someone buying them, then hauling them in a plastic container in 90+ degree weather to a car, then drive home and try to get a setup made for it. But they were selling them. It makes me really, really mad!!
On a side note, there's a new reptile of the 21st century..."DWARF BEARDED DRAGONS" !!! Yep, I saw a couple of booths selling DBD's....like BD's need to be any smaller. Gawd, these people will try anything to sell a reptile.
But guess what.....we will most likely NOT be going back to that show, unless to help the Triangle Rescue group out at their booth.
TIR had a great setup and an outstanding turn out of not only volunteers to man the booth but visitors were flocking to the booth to visit and learn about iguanas. The group did a wonderful job!!!
