: : : Howdy Filthy,(hummm gotta find a new name)
: : : I really like what I hear from you!!! We need more people with thoughts like yours. And less people like Augusto (see post below). If people would take the time to "look" and see the very large scale problem with unwanted and abused iguanas, I think it would really be a eye opener to them. Keep up the great postings, Sue2 and I enjoy reading them.....iguanas kinda grow on you don't they?

: : Hi Harry Sr.
: : I see what you mean. Hadn't really thought about that aspect of the hobby. I mostly hang out on the Venomous Forum, where a large percentage of the snake keepers are breeding their animals like prize cattle.
: : However, there is a big difference between, say, an Eyelash Viper and an Iguana. One of the main ones is that almost 100% of the Viper's off-spring will find homes with keepers that KNOW about Eyelash Vipers, desperatly want an Eyelash, and have been waiting for one to become available for a long time.
: : It might be fun, I think, to someday find an ol' lady for the Garoot (whom I believe is male but am not sure and NO, don't send me one!). But I think I would incubate any resulting eggs in the septic tank.
: : I know that them's hard, cold sayin's to a lot of folks on this Forum and if I catch a bunch of flak for it, well, I've been shot, stabbed, and burned before. But as you said, there are just too damned many of these big lizards around that nobody, including you and I, much want.
: : Conservation, I believe, is hitting the delicate balance between 'Don't got enough' and 'Gotta get rid of'.
: : Hang in,
: : filthy
: ..... better clear up the name.
: I was named Filthy Phil by a motorcycle club that I was a Charter Member of. Due to lack of time, I had to drop out, but the name has stuck with me for lo, these many years.
: The Green Garoot got his name, not because we know what a "garoot" is, but because he looks like what one ought be.
: What an outrageous lizard!
: Incidently, my street ride ia a ratted-out 1946 'U' model Harley Flathead that hasn't been washed in over 20 years, and I'm proud of it!
: Later,
: filthy
