Carrie, thank you for sharing the results they've been able to give you thus far. I do not know if TRex had been with you since iglet-hood. But if so and you were the one who fed him animal protein, I beg you not to feel totally responsible for this. If someone else fed him this early on, please do not find total fault with them unless you know all the facts (previous owner may have been following advice given). I am saying this for a reason....it has not been that recent that animal protein has been cited as a leading cause of problems. Even today there are recently published books that tell us to feed things that aren't necessarily good for them..as well as magazine articles, pamphlets, websites and VETS.

If we fed in the past based on "professional" literature, etc. available at the time, any health problems that occur later in life are not ours to solely feel guilty over. As long as we change the diet as new information is made available to us, then that's all we CAN do.

Water intake is now a large concern. This "find" came about (as I recall) after vets started having patients with kidney problems who had NEVER had animal protein. BabyHerp (Gina) first brought it to my attention. This info would not be something in a book on the bookshelves right NOW, I don't believe.

Therefore, use of this kind of forum, mailing lists, etc. becomes increasingly important to get the latest information to us....things that might save lives in the long run. So I thank you for sharing information with us and hope that you continue to join us as we learn and keep each other informed.
