: I noticed that you said you installed a new light on top of his cage. This is a good thing. But then you went on to say that he sleeps under it. That could be a bad thing. If it is a bulb that puts off visible light, and if he sleeps under it during the night, that's where it's bad. Iguanas, like humans and all other animals, need what is called a photo period. In laymen's terms, that means that they need both a light period (daytime) and a dark period (nighttime). They need darkness to sleep, or they will, also like humans, become steadily more irriable and unstable. And who wants an irritable or unstable ig? If this is the case, you need to find some alternative heat source for night. I recommend a *human* heating pad, set on low. Hope this helps.

It has no cage, but runs loose in the house, much to the cat's dismay. When we got the Iguana, it came complete with a much too small a fish tank and a case of malnutrition.
Not having an enclosure is sheer lazyness on my part, but it is actually working out pretty well. There is a place where it eats and deficates just like it was trained. Is this a common behavior, or has some of the cat rubbed off on it?
This winter, I suppose I will have to set it up so that I can control the temperture. He will not like that.
Many thanks,
