: Missy...I'm afraid that the vinegar and water solution altho helpful will not get rid of infestation of mites=black demarcation you see. Go to a herp vet and ask for Ivermectin Spray or Go to a pet store and get Durakyl Bird Mice & Lice spray or order Provent-a-mite by pro-products I gave Franks post the link. or try Nix (drug store head & lice treatment for people) I also gave the link for the recipe at Franks post. This is infestation...not a few bugs here and there. If not treated and rid of ...reinfestation likely to occur and your looking at a lot of time and effort all for not ..when these products have been proven safe to use as directed with little chance of reinfestation. Those bugs are hanging on for dear life, they have invaded your iguanas skin uner the scales...and in the meantime causing anemia in your iguana...vinegar and water is just not effective. Altho cheap...your wasting alot of time. You need to get rid of those bugs pronto. If you have any other reptiles please check them as well...mites breed like crazy and travel..mostly at night.

After we found the mites, we gave Duke a temporary cage, and moved his outside. He stayed in the temp. cage for about 3 days and then we noticed the little critters crawling in this cage. This cage was located in Frank's room, which also houses, a bearded dragon, a corn snake, a leopard gecko, and a red-eyed tree frog. The cages weren't on the same stand and Duke was housed alone. Afterwards we took that cage outside and cleaned and disinfected it. Is there any chance the mites might have infested into the beardie's cage or anything else???? What would you suggest I give my little ig a bath in? I will try anything. Are the blackened areas fatal? Could they kill him if not treated soon?
