In Reply to: Leash could hold my BullMastiff..... posted by Joe III on July 27, 1999 at 20:24:26:
: : So does everyone agree that these leash types are best. I know I have an old one that loops around the neck and back body (where yours does). I find these things a real pain to get on & off-- even the tamest iguanas usually get annoyed with how long it takes me to get it set up right. I would gladly go to this simpler style, but I was wondering if it is strong enough? Has anyone had an ig bolt while attatched to this leash? Can the legs slip out with a lot of writhing and freaking out? Sleestack can be spastic at times & I would hate to lose him outside.
:
: These are very simlple to use... they go on quickly
: and if placed the way I'm instructing people the
: place them they will not come off. An Ig's waist
: is smaller than the combination of their tail and
: both legs. The nylon cord I use is strong enough
: to hold my entire body's weight (and I'm no small
: mammale).
: I have tired all the others.... This works the
: best for me. This design has handled a five foot
: Water Monitor's crocidile roll. If you place it
: on right.... Your Ig will not be able to escape.
: It is however, only meant to be used as insurance
: against an escape. You should not tether your Ig
: to the nearest tree while you go inside to watch
: the Real World on TV. It is meant to keep your ig
: from going up a tree or across the road into the
: bush after it jumps of your shoulder.

One more thing... I just got a new Ig. He is a
Lewisi cross blue Ig... And let me tell ya...
he is a mean little "Joneser"! He tries to bit
me every time I pick em up. I have do problem
getting him into his leash. I also trust my leash
to hold him. If he was to get out of that leash
he would be gone..... Baby Cyclura speed is no
joke.... when they take off it is not a sprint
but a run for the roses.... They are fast and
will run great distances (across a hundred yard
field in a few seconds). I trust this design...
with me little Demon. (he will tame down one day
too)
Take care,
Joe III
