not sure what to do

I am a bearded dragon owner but the other day someone called me who was referred to me by the pet store i deal with. it seems they found this iggie ( they called him neon) in their backyard basking on their fence. they caught him and were trying to find a place for him without going through animal control ( who would only put him down) so i told them i would take him. now my problem is this.. i only took him or her in to make sure it wasnt put down, hoping i could find someplace that would take him ( since i have my beardies outside cage i could store him in there) but the rescue places i have found want me to give cage and all or a good amount of money, neither of which is an option. does anyone have any suggestions?
