D. Dan,
Well, first off Lola is 5 to 6 years old, she's a adult with some kind of manners, unlike the wild one "Harry"! With Harry, if you feed him, you can figure within about 15 minutes you'll need to poop him. IF you don't, sometimes he'll seek out our kitchen floor to relieve himself. Lola on the other hand, she won't go unless you take her to the bathroom, but I think this comes from being a adult. I wouldn't trust Harry for at least another year. Although he goes 99.5% of the time in the bathtub, it's the .5% that's the problem, he just won't hold it!.
There's different ways of training them....from using the bathtub to newspaper, papertowels, litterboxes,to even toilets ( yes there are some that use the toilet)
It seems as a Iguana gets older, it less likely to want to poop anywhere it's going to be!! It's like it takes them months to years to figure out.....ewww yuck......I'm not pooping where I'm gonna be anymore.....that's gross. Harry's has gotten to this point somewhat....when I take him to the bathroom....he wants to poop and then " like get me the heck out of this tub FAST"
So in the end Dan, I couldn't assure you that your iguana "wouldn't" have a accident now and again on that nice carpet your folks have. Sorry wish I could have told you differently.
