I went to the site you recommended and felt better before I even read your posts LOL

Now if I follow it all correctly this is what I come up with:

BUN = Blood Urea Nitrogen...it can show up high in cases where there is infection

CPK = checks enzymes in regard to heart, brain and muscles.....can be elevated due to stress OR injury

EOSINOPHIL = white count....can elevate in infection

(Thanks for the pointer via mail re SGT = GOT! And this was normal and this is what confused him.)

Dr. didn't mention these new ones that I listed and IMHO it is because a) it would scare me OR b)felt it was not worth mentioning.

In my layman's brain, my thinking is that these levels were HIGH due to the infection in the tail and/or from the stress she experienced being at the vet and being ill.

I think you misread me somewhat...because I DO think this is all related to her tail infection. I may be fooling myself but I hope not!

He didn't sound worried. Said it was up to us to do anything else especially since her color was improving while under meds. I'll be keeping a hawkeye on it and how she's acting. Right now I'm thinking of giving it a month and then contacting him to see if he thinks another bili count would tell us whether to do anything further.

I think that quote that fits the majority of us here is: "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing" LOL

BTW I'm leaving the website that Gina gave me for those of you who would like to try to make heads or tails out of what some of those "codes" mean on lab work. Thanks again, Gina!
