Some of you are aware that Lightning displayed some characteristics this season of being gravid even though she was spayed a year ago in August. A couple of people told me I should make sure that they did a complete job just in case :o)

So while at the vet I asked the vet to check her record on this. Her regular guy had been called out of town and she was being seen by the head of the clinic. He scanned thru and mumbled at least twice the word "displaced" and clucked a few times. He then said that everything was removed..both ovaries, etc. and that her record indicated that it was a tough surgery complicated by the prolapse.

He didn't seem to agree that her behavior was from "leftover" hormones. I told him that I had heard that it could take one or two seasons to be rid of them, and he said "naw..." *sigh* I was not equipped to argue the point and I'm not one to argue when I feel like I may be on shaky ground. All I know is that others have reported the same activity from their spayed reptiles the following season. Maybe hormones was not the term I was looking for to describe this.

Anyway, my mind was put to rest with the knowledge that she was FULLY spayed (is that a term? LOL).
