: : Hey guys, I need some people with experience to help me out. I have been researching both Igs and WD's and I just can't decide on what to get. Everyone I have talked to says to get a WD due to smaller size, easier diet and less health problems. They also say that WD's are much more tame and docile compared to an Ig that has reached sexual maturity. That is one thing that worries me with an Ig, I hate the thought of having a 5ft. grumpy lizard that wants to throw spats at you. Then again I have heard some really great stories about Igs and their friendly disposition. Stories like that of the Ig crawling into bed with the person, curling up in your lap for a nap, or just seeking you out for attention. Why haven't I heard any stories like this related to WD's?? Is it because WD's are not as affectionate, or just because more people tend to not let WD's free roam due to their smaller size?
: : Which one of these two lizards is considered higher maintenance? Which one costs more to feed? For me I would prefer making a nice sized batch of a salad for an Ig and store it in my fridge rather that keeping and caring for live insects for the WD, but I could do that too.
: : I have also been told that WD's tend to stay a lot greener and younger looking as they get older, opposed to an Ig that starts to turn a brownish color (btw is it uncommon for an older Iguana to actually be green, most older Ig pics I have seen are of brownish Igs).
: : I would like a lizard that has quite a bit of personality, not one that is just tame to the touch.
: : Thanks so much
: : P.S. just how bad to Igs get during mating season?
