Our Ig Harry, used to do this too (when we first brought him home). Assuming you have a big enough enclosure, here's what I would suggest (it worked for us).
Cover the ENTIRE enclosure with a bed sheet. Your ig is trying to escape. He thinks by "digging or rose rubbing" he will find his way out. We had to cover Harry's cage for a couple of weeks. After that, he settled down and quit digging/rubbing. Leave the sheet on ALL THE TIME! Yes, we would peek in on him, tak to him and whatnot. It makes them feel secure and also defines his cage boundaries.

PS: Of course, be careful with your lights/heating equipment around the sheet (possible fire). Fortunately, all of our equipement hands inside the cage and not on top of the cage.
