In Reply to: How Do I Stop My Iggy From CONSTANTLY Bumping His Nose??? posted by Iguana Guy on July 14, 1999 at 20:14:09:
i had a similar problem, it later turned out that my iguana was actually unhappy in its aquarium because it was too small. he was actually getting stressed, it was affecting his appetite. he wouldn`t rub his nose against the glass per say, but he would scratch at the glass sides. now he is free roaming so i don`t have to worry about cages anymore.... he really hates being confined tho. he doesn`t even like being out in his sunning cage, which is 6ft tall,4 ft wide and 4 ft deep!
one more thing that i noticed about your post, what do you ahve as a substrate? you wrote that he would dig in his substrate, and i just wanted to point out that if you are using something like pebbles, bark or anyhting else that is in little peices, he could swallow them and get an impaction that can be very serious. you shouldn`t use anything small enough for your iguana to put in its mouth. just a thought......

keep shoving his nose into a corner trying to get out of his cage, I have pulled him away from the corner may of times but he keep going back to the corner digging the substrate our of the way and bumping his nose in the corner. I do not want him to hurt himself, so I ask if you know of anyway to stop him from doing this please tell me!!!:) I am going to try something but that can't be done till tomorrow, I am going to buy some forest backround for his tank so he might stop, I hope he does, please post any suggestions you have!
