UV lighting and questions

Hi all. Today I finally got a uvb-uva full spectum reptile light today and I have a few questions.
1. Do i still need to take him out for sunbaths each day?
2. Is it true that these lights can damage your sight?
3.Should I leave this light on all day? [it's really bright!]
4.Can the light be closer to the ig than 18"

p.s.
THorn completly devoured a plate full of squash,snow peas,dandelion greens,snap beans and sweet potatoes this morning
in no time flat!
