$5.99 Iguanas the whole month of July - HELP!!!!

As the NIAD International Coordinator, I have put hundreds of hours into NIAD through the web page, making pamphlets, and e-mailing all you fine folks. But know I seriously need your help.

Last year this pet store by me, Jacks Aquarium and Pets, had a special listed on the flyer they mail to homes. The special was buy an iguana for $5.99 all month long. Well, I was just in the initial stages of coming up with NIAD when this happened, so I really did not have the resources to do much about it. I did visit three of their stores here in the Dayton area, but never saw any iguanas. Finally during the last week of the sale I asked a sales person. She told me they sell so many they can not keep them in the stores. That made me so mad. All those disposable iguanas being sold by their approximately 25 stores throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida.

Well, guess what - they are in trouble now because they are having that sale again . For the ENTIRE month of July you can get a baby "Farm Raised" iguana for $5.99. We need to tell these people ASAP that this is unacceptable. The only way we can do this is through a fast letter writing campaign. Please help me and write to them.

Just so you know, this store does do a few good things. They are the only store in this area to sell reptisuns and iguana lights. They also keep the reptiles in a special room which can only be accessed by employees. But, when you advertize an iguana for $5.99 people are going to come. Their flyers are sent to every home in Dayton, and probably every home in the viscinity of the 25 other stores in three states.

We had over 100 letters sent to zoomed about the hot rocks. With only 25 stores 100 letters would make a SIGNIFICANT impact. If you mail them it has to be soon if we want to stop this sale. If we can not, maybe we will stop them from doing this again next year.
