I read an article on iguanas being bad pets in the newspaper yesterday.
Someone interviewed a guy who is a vet's assistant at one of the Huntsville (AL)
Animal clinics. He did a good job scarin' me off! (now what am I gonna do with this time-bomb-just-waitin'-to-go-off named Cleo?)(j/k)
Actually he did do the ig world a service, and maybe people will read the article and think harder before they buy an ig. (At least in Huntsville, anyway!!)
The guy could not have been an ig person, and they left it a mystery as to what they actually do with the igs that are brought in and left at their office. He said they used to give them to zoos and biologists who study igs, but now the zoos are too full, and they're not taking any more
iguanas, and they don't adopt them out any more, cuz they just kept getting the same igs back. He said they got 3 igs in, in 3 days. They made a big deal of how the latest orphan had scratched him so badly that it drew blood.
(Sheesh, where's your toenail clippers, doc??)Anyway I thought it was interesting...now my kids' grandma is scared to death cuz we got this terrifying animal in the house. I guess I'll go try to tell Cleo not to be so terrifying....if I can get her to wake up from her nap!
And I'm also feeling the need to e these guys and find out the fate of their latest iguana orphans. (sigh---you knew this was coming...didn't you?!)
