: Just wondering if you have ever seen a basilisk lizard or know any thing about them?

Yup real nice to look at but kinda flighty.
the common ones are the
green basilisk (males get huge crests)
there is also a smaller one..the striped basilisk they even established themselves in south FL.
The there are the double crested browns...They get HUGE they are not as colorful as the greens but very big...males also of huge crests.
then there is the red headed basilisk...but you probably wont be seeing those ever. I have only known one person to ever keep any.
if you are thinking about getting one...do yourself a huge favor and buy a captive born baby.
the imports are larger and very wild and they generally ruin their nose by slamming into anything as soon as they see you....unless you can get them in a very big outdoor enclosure.
babies are great...and they can tame down alot.
