You may use kale to feed your iguana. You just shouldn't feed it daily. Kale, as well as other vegetables, binds to the iodine content in your iguana's foods causing the iguana to not be able to absorb and use the iodine. This is what can lead to a thyroid problem. I'll leave you a website so that you can read about iodine. It is info for humans not reptiles but most research on their diets is first based on what is known about humans' foods.
As you are probably realizing, striking a good balance for your iguana's daily diet is not easy. The key to it will be to vary the foods on at least a weekly basis. If you fed kale as part of the diet this week, leave it out next week and use something else :)
