The same thing happened to Gibson, about 6 months ago. I was taking her to the vet for her annual check-up & noticed it then. I believe that it is a thermal burn, Gibson's light was too close & focused behind her non-paratial(sp?) eye. She didn't relize she was getting too hot & burned herself. It does not look like a normal burn, it looks exactly as you described it. I used 3 in 1 & diluted Betadine. It is a SLOOOOOOOOW injury to heal. good luck & hope Lightning bounces back as has Gibson.

P.S. Gibson was poolside all weekend soaking up the rays as the WORLDS MOST SPOILED IGUANA!

: Lightning has hurt her tail somehow. It is on the side about half and inch or less from the end of her tail. From what I've been able to tell it looks like a "crack" and it bled just a little. She had whipped her tail violently and we all came running to see what was wrong. Couldn't see anything. Then she did it again. She's shedding on parts of her tail so I thought maybe a piece of shed was getting caught as she walked along & she thought something was grabbing at her. I sprayed her down really well then took a look. I've not examined it any more at this point because when I got within an inch of the injury she whipped her tail like the devil was after her & I was afraid she would cause more damage...to herself and to ME :o)

: My question is whether it would be better to spray on a product such as "Second Skin" (or whatever the name is) that is used for burns rather than try to touch it right now. I know that it should be cleaned/flushed with diluted Betadine and then Neo-sporin applied nightly for a week or so. But as I stated, I'm afraid she'll make it worse if I attempt to actually touch it with my hands.

: Thoughts anyone? Anyone ever use the spray on stuff? Happy with it? Etc. Etc. *just like a kid! do things when dr's are closed*
