Yes there are blue iguanas! The picture above (that is if I can figue this out)is from Marie's web page http://the.thoughtshop.net/~meguro/sapphire/sapphire.html (hope she doesn't mind.) I think it is what I have heard of as "Blue Caymen Iguana." It is a true Blue Iguana.

I am going out on a limb here so anyone feel free to correct me. I once read (can't remember where but I think it was Hadfields book)that an expert can tell which country an iguana came from most of the time. I don't know if that is true but I think the point is that there are slight variations but they are all the same thing Iguana iguana (Green Iguana.) I think at least for a time that Peru was producing "bluer" iguanas that where really just Greens Iguanas hense the name "Peruvian Blue Iguanas." I have a feeling that Blue Cayman Iguanas are very rare so probably what you would find in a pet store is a green iguana that is just "bluer."

I have I good idea. Let's start selectively breeding iguanas like dogs have been over the years. Some ideas I have: Spotted Leopard Iguana & White Nosed Iguana. LOL. Is it time for me to get a life yet? ...or can I consider this one? =)
