: : I *THINK* what she was going for was that your opinion is obviously not the popular one here (I mean by number of supporters - popular). Because it is the general consensus of almost everyone posting here that your information is incorrect, she would rather email you so as not to get another long, drawn out 'argument' going.
: : Argument is the correct word.. there is no debate on the subject. You're not willing to concede you might be wrong, nor are we. There's no sense slinging accusations and ugly words in a public forum. We disagree. Plain and simple.
: : Much as I might hate to admit it, you do have a right to both your opinion and your posting of it. I don't agree with you, but then again I'm sure some of the 'experts' didn't agree with some of the new information when it was originally presented, even if it was proven correct.
: : Since the origial poster seems quite interested in discussing it with you, I think it was very appropriate for her to request that you emailed her. I personally leave my email address for everyone to see and use in case someone is too shy to jump in publicly but would like to continue a conversation on a particular subject.
: : I do have one question for you as a breeder, though.. do you guys (breeders) ever attempt to keep records on the animals you raise/import AFTER they leave your care? As far as what cities/states they go to, or individual pet stores? Down to individuals? Following an animals care and health from as early on as possible, recording diet, temps, medical problems, etc is the BEST way to determine if something is good for the animal.. and it's not something you can do in a few weeks or even years. I try to keep meticulous records on the animals that come through our rescue organization, with iguanas being at the top of the frequency list. I check up with their new owners and follow their progress to determine if the animal is in it's ideal condition or as close to it as it can be. Do any breeders keep or even care about these statistics?
: : Personally, Kev, I would appreciate the hell out of it if you would email me directly. No arguments or anything along those lines, but I would like to trade information with you, as a breeder/importer. What I would be interested to find is an ACCURATE number of iguanas imported and/or bred yearly and to what areas of the country they are going. Most of what I find are what seem to be (I dearly hope) inflated numbers to grab people's attention. My main interest is educating the average uninformed customer so that they might make educated decisions when choosing and caring for their pets.
: : Please feel free to email me. My email address is listed above, and you are welcome to visit out website, listed below. My ICQ # is on the website as well if you would prefer a discussion that way.
